Las Horquetas Cerro Castillo Traverse – Villa Cerro Castillo, Aysén
The Las Horquetas Traverse is the definitive private guided circuit in Cerro Castillo National Park: 45.5 km over four days through hanging glaciers, turquoise lagoons, and the volcanic basalt spires that give this park its name. Most people who come to Patagonia go to Torres del Paine. This is where they wish they had gone instead. Cerro Castillo is Chile's first national park on the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas. The Las Horquetas circuit is its flagship route, and with fewer than 40 permitted hikers entering per day, it will never become what Torres del Paine has. Your group will have the lagoon, the glacier views, and most of the trail, largely to yourselves. Your guide for this circuit is Anaís Puig, a certified ANGM mountain guide, Sernatur registered, fluent in English and Spanish, and one of the most experienced local specialists on this route. Anaís makes the call on river crossings, pass conditions, and gear requirements in real time, based on what's actually happening on the ground, not what a booking platform says the weather should be.
